Gender: Male

Height/Weight: 6'1'', 153lb

League: Supreme S Alliance

Power: Shadow Manipulation. He can more or less control all darkness and shape it to his will.
He can make mostly tangible weapons such as spikes and throwing needles (which he uses a lot), grab a hold of things, pick up things, catch things, and a lot of other things with them. He can pick himself up for a short amount of time with the shadows so he sort of hovers, usually when he's jumping over something or dodging. The shadows can also act as a third hand, say if he were climbing a tree and slipped, he could grab a branch with the shadows to keep himself from falling. If he is forty or less feet away from someone, he can possess their shadow and either control their actions or keep them from moving at all. The closer he is, the stronger the hold. He can 'sense' or 'see' things with the shadows, which makes dark rooms a breeze to get through. He can also turn himself into shadows for a very short amount of time, but he only does this in case of emergencies, when he has to make a quick get away (when he does it, it wipes out mostly all his energy, and he runs the risk of fainting and being unconscious for hours afterwards).

Weapon of choice: Preferably shadows, but he will use whatever he can including sass.

Strengths: Any sort of darkness, even the shadow of a tree, as long as there are shadows around to control. Sometimes, when he's tired, the darkness can also recharge him. He's not too sure how to do this manually, it sort of happens automatically when he's sleeping. He's very stubborn, and hates looking weak, so fear of losing a fight can motivate him to fight harder. He hardly ever trusts anyone, and it's hard for him to get attached to anyone, which means there are less people to exploit. In some cases, light, because it creates more, thicker shadows. Tansy and Milo.

Weaknesses: Bright light, whether natural or artificial. While it does create more shadows, if bright enough it can hurt Zaine's eyes as much as salt would, and in some cases can even burn his skin. He's more or less easily intimidated, but hardly ever shows it(though he has gotten over many of his fears). He's stubborn, arrogant, and he's got a really foul temper. If someone were to insult him enough, he could blow a fuse. His relationships and trust issues are sort of a double edged sword; he would rather fight alone, even when he really needs it, and he can be easily manipulated by his relationships with people.

Likes: Peanut butter and jelly, the colors purple, red and green, cats, sweet things and candy, being alone (for the most part)mecha/robot anime, dark rooms, darkness in general, racing and 'dancing' with his shadow, exploding buildings with Tansy, silence, Facilier(from The Princess and the Frog), walking at night, chocolate milk, Tansy, Milo. He secretly loves Batman.

Dislikes: Nutella, overly salty foods, bright lights and colors, lots of noise, most of the popular superheroes, the sun, hentai, being hit on by anyone but Tansy, whiny people, extreme temperatures (especially hot, because it's usually paired with sunshine)

Personality: Tsundere. That's all you need to know. ....No I'm kidding. Zaine's pretty much an asshole to anyone who he doesn't like or isn't intimidated by, but if someone approaches him with good intent he'd welcome them with an awkward smile and even more award small talk, though because of his trust issues he wouldn't let them get too close. He's very paranoid, and will not trust anyone until they've proven themselves trust worthy. When he isn't being a total butthead he's shy, nervous and clumsy, especially around those new people. He's been known to trip up the stairs and over his own shadow. Despite his shyness, he can be arrogant, especially when fighting someone. Also, since he's never had anything of his own, or had his own friends, he's very possessive of his possessions and his friends. If someone is talking to to his friends in a way he doesn't like, he'll get up there and 'stake a claim' on them somehow (usually by glaring at the person, threatening them when his friend's back is turned or touching that friend). Due to recent merging with Gibbs, he's taken on some of his personality traits; mild pervertedness, an almost perpetual good mood, high confidence and a bit of kleptomania.

Background: Zaine comes from a broken home. A very broken and a poor home. His mother was a gambler, his father was a drinker, and his older siblings were more than abusive. When Zaine was born, his mother realized that she couldn't care for three children and feed her gambling addiction, so she packed her bags and left for Vegas as soon as she could. Her husband, the eyes-never-smiling and already suffering from depression, ignored his two older children in favor of the child that had his wife's eyes instead. He soon drank himself to death, Zaine being no more than five months old. He didn't leave a will, the childnren's only inheritance being the old house they lived at with a brown lawn and dirty walls, and none of the authorities could find their mother. Their Aunt Anne (grudgingly) agreed to take them in, and moved in not two days later. She had grown to hate kids over the years, though, and spent most of her time in the back room, mumbling to herself and knitting things that only somewhat resembled baby booties. She only came out to take care of Zaine when needed, until he was old enough to take care of himself (which was only when he was about 2 or 3).
Years went by, and the children grew. The first born son, Jace, and the middle daughter, Diana, saw their mother leaving and their father dying as all Zaine's fault. They hated him. They told him lies about how their parents never wanted him, how he wasn't really their brother, that he was just some baby left on the porch they had to take in. They ignored him when he needed help, stole food from his plate, broke the toys that had been handed down to him, and so much more. Jace even held Zaine down while Diana pierced his ears. Anne did nothing to prevent all of this from happening. When Zaine started school, he was malnourished, afraid of anyone who came close to him, and bullied by half the kids in his grade. The other half simply ignored him.
He became very introverted, never breaking a wall, never coming out of his shell. He stayed off to the side in everything he did, never noticed, never wanting to be noticed. He sat in the dark at home, and chased his shadow on the playground at recess. His shadow was the only person he could trust. Everyone else was out to get him. He grew up not trusting a soul.
It was a long, long time before anyone tried to break through the walls he had built around himself. Her name was Kaili Harris, and she had moved to America from Australia. She was a rough-n-tumble kind of girl, not afraid of anyone or anything. She wasn't even scared to be seen around the angry, quiet freak obsessed with his shadow. She took an interest in Zaine no one ever had, and followed him around asking all sorts of questions, only smiling in response to his glares, and laughing at his threats. Eventually, he let his guard down around her, and she got over the walls. By high school, they were inseparable, the best of friends. They did everything together, and by the time their junior year rolled around, they were in love. For their anniversary during their senior year, Zaine bought two necklaces; one with his October birthstone, and one with her March. They treated it like an unofficial proposal, and everyone just knew they would get married after graduation.
But then tragedy struck.
Jace had made Zaine come with him, Diana, and a bunch of loud college boys to one of his football games out of town even though he hated Jace and football. Kaili had to work, she promised to text Zaine whenever she could. Knowing how strict Kaili's boss was when it came to using phones, Zaine didn't worry when Kaili suddenly stopped replying. He just assumed she had gotten in trouble. When they got back to town, though, he was told there had been a fire at the restaurant where Kaili worked. A hero, Jaguar (though the owner asked the news not to say who), had been saving everyone from the fire, but hadn't gotten to Kaili and two others in time. Zaine was sucked back into his shell, and he hid in his room once more, ignoring his sibling's demands he get over it and come out. It was during this time his powers surfaced. Two days after his nineteenth birthday, two months after the fire, he discovered his powers during one of his many nights spent pacing. His shadow would twist and bend to avoid being stepped on. When he realized this, he was thrilled. He could avenge Kaili!
And so, Zaine sought out the Supreme S Alliance, knowing it could help him find the hero that let his Kaili die.

Other: He has never taken off the necklace, as it is his most prized possession. He has received two necklaces since joining the Alliance; one that looks so much like Kaili's, from Gibbs as an apology, and a necklace shaped like an eye from Milo, sort of like a bff necklace. After almost going blind, he needs glasses to be able to see most times. The lenses are transitions. The sunglasses he wears on the job were a Christmas present from Tansy. His gloves and boots have small lights on them to increase the number and thickness of the shadows, making them easier to work with. Also carrots because they're good for your eyes!
